IT Equipment wishlist
In order of preference.
Printers
Replace the four old printers in the big rooms (360, 358, 378, 380).
Option 1, buy 4x HP P3005x approx 2500ukp.
Option 2, move the colour printer to one of the big rooms and buy 3x HP P3005X and 1x HP p2015x approx 2200ukp

Chairs
Eight new office chairs (six replacements, two spare) 670ukp.

Backup server
A new backup server with greater capacity (8Tb) 3500ukp. This would enable us to back up larger amounts of data on the workstations and the /storage filesystem on tardis.

Monitors
Replace all remaining CRT monitors with 19" flat screens. There are 12 CRTs in student/postdoc/visitor rooms. Basic 19" Iiyama model is 155ukp so 1860ukp

File server
File server (2x decent machines, about 6K). Gives us a writable network filesystem visible on all machines to help in collaboration.
Workstations
Replace some of the older workstations (basic model is around 450ukp, performance model 900ukp)
Machines in need of replacement are:
- Sprik group: wine, seer, honey, vinegar. Also JC is using a visitor machine and could do with his own.
- Hansen group: sarasota, discovery
- Alston Misquitta: radiant
- Althorpe group: scree, sevenof9, lodestar
- Wales group: dougal, muse, dredd
- Vendruscolo group: merlot, summa
- Other groups: bistromath, giant
- Visitor machines: bari, ortega, saemdo, tantive, tea
These are all between seven and four years old. Obviously not all of these could come under the Portfolio.
Laptop
A new laptop for loaning out to students for conferences. The current one is five years old. 1000ukp
